Question:
What is the optimal duration time for applying ice?
I am rehabbing a hamstring strain. After workouts I apply ice, but I've been given, and read of, different lengths of time to apply it. What's the optimal for keeping the ice on my hamstring?

I dare say you will get differing information on here as well. I am not a sports therapist, but i have used ice myself and would suggest that you massage it onto the affected area for no longer that 10 minutes. Make sure you wrap the ice in something first so you don't get ice burn.
You are best complimenting this with heat in between cold periods. 3-4 times and rest it as well.
