Autologous blood injections

Question:

Autologous blood injections

My sports physician has suggested that I have autologous blood injections to both Achilles tendons for bilateral chronic tendinopathy and a chronic longitudidnal tear on the left.
He thinks a series of three injections may be needed, and this would mean perhaps a month off training.
Have any of you guys had experience with this process?
I am thinking hard as my event is just over 250 days away. Without the injections and continuing training as I am I will have to walk the marathon as my tendons are far too painful to run.
If they work and ease the pain a bit I may be able to run, but will lose a few weeks' training on the swim and bike as well.
Recommendations?
