Question:

Mononucleosis!

Hey, I'm an elite basketball player and I have mononucleosis since a couple of weeks. I'm very tired and had to stop practicing. Can somebody give me information and tips about this virus? What did you do to recover?

Thanks in advance,

Pat

Hey Pat,
I have never suffered from mono, but know plenty of people who have. One of my best friends had it and he wasn't right for 6 months, exercise seemed to aggravate his symptoms.

From a dietry point of view, make sure that you have plenty fruit and veg. I would also suggest you supplement with good quality fish oils, b vitamin complex(energy),good multi vitamin, echinacea and rhodiola(www.rhodiola.co.uk). You basically want to take anything that will help boost the immune system, any good health food shop should give you more advice.

I would also try to get plenty rest, saving your energy for games, but your body will tell you when to slow down.
Good Luck

Thanks for your answer. It contains some good advice but I think rest will be the best thing!! I just talked to my doc this afternoon and he told me to stop playing ball for a couple of weeks since I'm really not doing well. Thanks again.

Rest. Just complete bed-ridden rest until the doc says you can start up again. I had mono, and had to stop running for 5 weeks, but had I continued to keep running my recovery might have taken substantially longer. Sorry for your luck, and dump whoever you were kissing (jk) ;)
