Question:

How do u get more a more ripped look, without 'bulking' too much ?

I normally train in functional principles but would like someone to give me a couple of answers for a change :) i am about average bodyfat and would love to get 'cut' for the summer.

try doing all over body exercises and a higher rep scheme. Do a workout that is both taxing for the muscle and the heart (i.e a good cardio workout). You need to carry on taking in regular protein and eat healthy, this will ensure you maintain and build muscle rather than loose it whilst tryin to burn fat. Eat 6-8 smaller meals a dy and plenty of water. I do alot od cct training which is ideal for burning the fat and if you push yourself on the bodyweight exercises you can build muscle. I also do Crossfit type exercises aswell, a short but sharp workout that burns fat for hours after. Good luck

I agree, full body "big" exercises with higher reps are great for burning body fat and toning up. I tend to do 3 sets of 15RM with 30 seconds rest between, or perhaps going round a circuit 3 times with no rest. You could make your session a PHA session by adding in 5 mins of CV between each circuit too.
Things like walking lunges with shoulder press, or lunging forwards then backwards, using a medicine ball to go "up and over" the forward leg, and down to the side of the backwards leg as you move, round the clock lunges, squats with a "chest press machine" action, maybe holding dumbbells, as you stand up, squats with a medicine ball (try 5 taking the ball from between your knees to over your head, then 5 from the outside of your left knee across the diagonal to your right shoulder (and the same the other way!), then 5 each way of holding the ball in front of your body and rotating to the side as you squat down).
These exercises are great for improving muscle tone, getting your heart going, and keeping the fat burning going after you've trainer.
Core work is really important too - you're getting a lot of core engagement with what I've suggested above, but doing a couple of planks and bridges would really help too!
Good luck!
