Opinion: Spinning
I'm a star 2 spinning instructor and am interested to hear your opinions on the good points + bad ..likes and dislikes of a 45 min class. How does it help in your own training etc...answer here or visit my group "fitness/spinning.

I really enjoy spinning classes but it really depends on the instructor. I find it best when the course contains both a lot of climbs and some speed work in between. The music helps make the time go by faster....as for the effect on my training, it seems to help with my hill work in both running and cycling. The one suggestion that I do have is that, perhaps, there should be an option for an 'advanced' class which works you harder. I appreciate the fact that you can go at your own pace and gear settings but the instructor is still required to go at the pace of the weakest member of the class.

thank u , some good points...we do an advanced class that lasts an hour. we do tell people its for advanced spinners.i love to do a full 40 mins interval zone but not too often .as some find it really hard but good ,but as you say , you go your own pace. yes a good instructor can b a big help..try and ask if your club can try an hour class. thanks again for your points.

I go to the music, nothing else. If it’s fast = sprint. If it’s slow with a good beat then it’s a hill. I don’t like doing any dips or upper body work, if you want that then get yourself off to a circuit class. Also I hate people (including instructors) who never had enough resistance on. You see their hips bouncing around in the saddle all the time NO NO NO NO!

it totally depends on the instructor and the session, some grind the sesion right trough, it's better to mix it up with some sprints and intervals of speed work, like you would on a road bike.
