Question:

How can i speed up my recovery of dislocated ankle?

I dislocated and fractured my left ankle as well as my tibia just below the knee in aug 2007.

I now have a permanent `tightrope` in the ankle, although i can run around a bit ,i can only manage to train once a week.

Can anyone tell me if the pain is forever and/or techniques to improve strength. I didn't reiieve much physio from the hospital and its getting frustrating.

I'm 29 and want to play football the best i can again.

2007 ??????????? Surely this should have recovered by now. Well I don't know what a 'tightrope' is, im guessing your foot faces outwards more than normal ??

You should strengthen the surrounding tissue by ways of strength training, and plenty of stretching (PNF would benefit)

Also, get some massage on the offending foot to improve blood flow to this area.

l should imagine you have all sorts of scar tissue around your ankle and l would expect you had ligament damage that can take a long long time to get back to normal. Definetly see a good sports therapist to work the tightness from your ankle and help with strengthing the ankle also l would recommend a book fix your feet by dr phillip maffetone.
