A groin strain occurs when the muscles of the inner thighs are stretched beyond their normal length. This results in tears within the muscle that cause pain and inflammation. The groin muscles are medically known as the adductors muscles. The adductors are comprised of five muscles; the adductor magnus, longus, brevis, pectineus, and gracilis. When these muslces contract, they bring the leg to midline. Overstretching these muscles results in a groin strain.
One easy way to prevent this injury is by gentle stretching of the hip adductor muscles. This can be done in the sitting, supine, and standing positions. Each strech gently lengthens the hip adductor muscles and increases their range of motion

Incorporate a groin stretching exercise program in your warm up regimen today.

Stretching exercises are a good way to prevent injury. Learn simple stretches that can be done to increase your range of motion.

Hi there,

Is it definately JUST a groin strain you have? The fact that the problem has been ongoing for so long and limiting your function so much would possibly suggest the need for further investigation (if not already done) to rule out a more serious problem such as an avulsion fracture or something.

Please let us know if you do find something that does help you though, as I would be interested in hearing about your progress.

Thanks

As above have it checked again by a specialist and get a second opinion. An MRI could be of benefit as well.

Tut tut!

Glad you're getting things sorted. Although Im sure you'll be getting frustrated bout easing your traing it'll be worth it when you get back to it with no more interruptions.

All the best when you return!

I think the right rehabilitation will be the right kind of training and besides that you could get a physio to do some deep massages to the muscles to get muscle heal the right way !!
