Fracture of 1st metatarsal... Another surgery? HELP!

I am a passionate skydiver and broke my 1st metatarsal in an landing the 19th of April (3 weeks ago) in Mexico.
They treated my in Mexico by aligning the bone with a percutanous nail and gave me a cast.
Seeing a doctor in the US for a revision he was not very enthuastic about the work but the work was already done.
As I didnt like his attention very much on Friday I went to see another doctor for a revision how healing is going and he scarred the hell out of me.
He wanted to do inmediate surgery, brake the bone again, put an extension device in the metatarso (the bone got shortened by approx. 4 mm after the injury) etc.
Talking to the doctor in Mexico again he told me:
Look there are 2 points of view: One is to let the bone heal and intervene the less posible and the other is to reconstruct anatomy the closest as before the accident.
He thinks I am going to be fine and breaking the bone again and puting an extension device in is more harmful then the benefits I would receive (4 mm shorter metatarso doesnt affect me according to him).
The US doctor talks about athritis and calcification because due to the shorter metatarso now the second toe has to take all of the bodyweight.
I dont know what to do. Surgery or not? Any experience?
