How can I improve my dolphin kick for swimming?

Vertical kicking will help. Do sets of 30 seconds vertical dolphin with your arms out of the water followed by 30 seconds rest (sculling or hold the side). When this is easy add a medicine ball. Hold a 6or 8 puond ball over your head while kicking. Also put on fins and do sets of 25s underwater. Do some where you start kicking on your sid and at mid pool rotate over to your front or back and finish. Also dolphin kicking on your back will help as well. Just remember that the kick really is lead by your chest. The legs just follow the wave of the body.

If you go to the gym the you can do some knee extention and other quad exercises as well as what swimref has said
