Question:

How do i hydrate myself?

i do a sport called outrigging, and i compete as often as possible! in the space of 7 hours i can end up doing 9 races or more, majority or these races being marathons. the thing is i can't hydrate myself without making myself sick! anymore then a mouth full of water will make me sick (even when i'm not competing. the same thing applies for all the gels and powders. and typically , stuff like hot chocolates and coke aren't good either. everyone around me gets up me telling me to hydrate, and i want to, but i don't like throwing up etc. so how can i hydrate?

I would definitely consult a physician. I'm not too familiar with the sport of outrigging. I used to be canoe recreationally 10 years ago when I was about your age but I never had any problems with hydration. For me, consuming water while running or cycling is harder, so I take small sips at a time so I don't dehydrate myself. Try sipping water little bit at a time, but you should definitely see a doctor about this.

also just a point.are you talking about hydrating thro' water intake because you are thirsty or are you thinking more about loss of minerals thro'sweating etc and thereby getting cramps. if drinking water/fluids generally makes you throw up then i agree you should consult a dr. if however you just don't like the taste of some of these drinks/gels and/or the carbonation of coke etc makes you sick then consider adding a hydration tablet to your plain water bottle. proper replacement of lost minerals such as salts, potassium etc will reduce the amount of fluid you need to intake because the hydration won't be so severe. i use a product called nuuns. its 0 calories and just hints at a flavour in the water. also don't forget the old system of over drinking in the 12 hrs prior to a race - that slows down dehydration at time of cometition but of course you will peepee a fair bit too. good luck at the drs
