Front Stroking?? As in freestyle swimming?? Sorry from Australia. Its all about head position, i'm a swimming and triathlon swim coach. If you have your head too far up on the surface of the water, the body will sink, resulting in a dragging position..Can i ask why you specifically need to float??

I'm guessing that you mean front quadrant swimming? All this means is that you don't start your pull until the recovering hand is in front of the shoulder. It helps with your ballance along with head and chest position. Generally, the longer the distance swam, the more front quadrant you should be. E.G. 50 freestylers tend to not be very front quadrant, but the also don't swim through the water, the get on top.
