is key hole surgery worth it??

i am 16 and have suffered with very bad knee pains since i have been about 10! i used to do lots of sports such as :martial arts, football, running, swimming ect.
when i was 10 i tore my ligament in my right knee and have suffered ever since, having to stop all ma sports because it was far to painfull. Then my horse fell on my left knee approx 4 mths ago, so i am now suffering with both knees. Physio hasn't helped and the specialist are talking about key hole surgery. i was jst wanting to now if any1 has had it done, and what the results were.
