Cure for knee pain
I have pain in my lateral knee. Actually I can be much more specific: last year I had the same pain in my opposite knee and I was still covered by my parents' insurance, so I went to see an orthopedist who recommended an MRI and later, physical therapy. I was diagnosed with IT band syndrome (inflamation of the IT band-I suppose in the area of the knee). The pain I feel now is identical, but in the opposite knee. Both have occured after long periods of sedentary behavior.
I'm assuming that this new pain is IT band syndrome as well, and have been treating myself with the same treatments (heat for 15-20 min followed bywarm up stretching, strength training of glutes, abs, and all legs muscles, more stretching, and then ice for 20 min) I recieved minus the ultrasound. I have seen a little progress, but I still can't run, and I have bad days when walking is mildly painful.
Does anyone have some advice for other kinds of treatment I could seek for minimal cost (i.e. supplements, specialized strength training for this kind of injury, etc.)? Thanks in advance

Active release is one of the most effective soft tissue techniques, most ITB problems will be sorted in 3-6 sessions, the ART provider will also treat any other soft tissue restrictions ie psoas gluts etc, that they find on examination.
I know you you asked for minimal cost but if you have your injury fixed in three sessions than this will save you money in the long term, then you can do your rehab.

To find a provider in the UK:

use a knee support and speek to your doctor about other choices
Although its sort of an old wives tale, I have seen benefits from soaking in a tub with epsom salt. Whether or not its psychosematic or not I'm not sure, but it has seemed to take the edge off of my joint and muscle pain.
I am suffering with similar problems and are doing & using the following.
Ice & heat applications 2-3 times per day
Devils claw for the inflamation
Epsom salt bath each night
Ice/cold bath post workout
Hope this helps
Dear Why Not Fandy
I have put together a Special Report on Knee Pain. Go to the following site and check it out.
http://www.FreeKneePainReport.com
I put together the 5 key components that I believe address most of the issues people deal with knee pain of course as long as anything isn't broken or torn.
Let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Bill
