Question:
middle distance race in the 2012 olympics?
Iam 24 now but used to run a 1:56 half mile and a 16 30 5k. I joined the military and had to stop training hard. Is it to late?

Not at all, in fact the military has been the middle-man in producing some fabulous athletes... Kelly Holmes for one!!! What regt/corps are u in?? If its something quite big like the RLC then they have loads of people doing various sports... seek advice from your OC or PO or whatever you have.

Well, middle distance is not affected at all with some years older.

I am in the navy and have spent 5 years so far. I will be getting out pretty soon and was wondering in 24 is a little to late to shoot for a goal that huge

The navy huh! lol. Only jokin' i was in the army, great but there are plenty of other things in life to do too eh :)
Nah, 24 is not too old. I would certainly look at running with a club to get the most out of it.
Get a yearly plan and stick to it. Get all your distance done and build up to speed for the summer track season.
Either that or for your resettlement do a personal training course. If that sounds like summit you would be interetsed in, then go with a provider called Focus. I did mine with them and they are excellent. Not as expensive as others and they teach exactly the same stuff.
All the best and keep in touch to let me know how you're doing.
