Protein does not 'turn' into fat... protein has a strong bond with fat as it's sometimes in meat form. so it stands to reason that if you eat meat, u take in protein and fat... saturated animal fat. Eeeeugh!
You're right, protein does not turn into fat. Excess protein is just excreted. There are however health problems which can be associated with eating too much protein or taking excessive protein supplements. These are mainly renal (kidney) problems. A lot of people doing weight training several times a week take excessive amounts of protein in the belief that it will help them bulk-up quicker. Most of it is just wasted...literally.
