Question:
Getting over an upper hamstring tear.
I got the tear playing tennis in November. It doesn't hurt a great deal but comes back after a bit of tennis. I'm trying stretching and walking but otherwise doing nothing for three weeks. Any other suggestions. I have a week to go under my plan and it is still sore sometimes.

You possibly need to get some deep tissue massage into the area there will be some scar tissue in there which is possibly causing you some discomfort. Try contacting a physio or sports massage therapist who can help.
Other wise continue withe the stretching and try some running and getting back into your full training regime as this is the best way to ease out the scar tissue.

You need to condition the hamstring. By that I mean put load through it and stengthen it up with high load and low load conditioning. Your problem is probably not a length issue so stretching will have a limited affect apart from returning muscle to a normal length. Soft tissue work will reduce scare tissue and help with length but ultimately it is a strength/condition issue. Get advice from a good fitness professional or physio who is excellent at the conditioning side of therapy.

Some hamstring exercises I like are bridging, and stiff-legged dealifts(light weight-they stretch the hamstrings, I love it!). Then you have the leg curl machines, and what not. If are able to try some of the exercies, do it and see if they help.
