Question:
Neck or shoulder injury ?
In the past year I`ve started to get trouble with my shoulder/neck. In bed at night,I have to sleep with my right arm under my head, for the reason that, If I don`t my whole right arm goes into pins and needles state. Even now sitting at my computer, if I tilt my head back then turn it to the right then hold, a sharp pain appears which slowly starts to turn my arm pins and needles. The pain seems to come from the right side of my neck or shoulder (under traps). Any ideas would be helpful. I did have it checked by physio ( or as he called himself, a sports massuer) but after a month (and alot of money spent) I felt no better ..Help

If you stay in the UK make sure you check your physio is registered with the health professions council (HPC) so that you now you're getting treatment from someone who's fully qualified and not just someone who's been on some random massage course.
Your problem def sounds like its coming from your neck. If you are working at a computer every day then chances are you holding your head in a slightly forward position. Therefore, start by making sure your workstation is well designed.
*Chair: feet should be flat on the floor, with your knees and hips at 90 degrees. Also ensure your bottom is right at the back of your chair so that your back can be supported by the backrest (thus hopefully preventing you from slumping often)
*Computer: make sure that the monitor is also at an appropriate height so that you're not needing to bend your neck to look at it.
But if you'vr had the problem for so long get re-assessed to confirm whether or not the problem is purely posture related.

I would recommend you go and see a regulated health professional(Chiropractor,Osteopath or Physio) and have a full examination and see what is causing your problem.

For me it seems obvious that you either have to tight muscles (m. trapezius) or your scapulohumerale rhytm is not right. The best recommendation is to go to a physio - he/she will not only repair the area but also make sure of that the problem behind the injury will be solved !!
