Gender stereotyping is really within the realm of sociology - along time a go I studied the sociology of sport. I suggest you search the net or go to your library and look for specific sociology of sport books. There should also be specific articles and research as well. If I recall rightly, look for a periodical called the International journal of sports sociology or something similar.
I studied gender issues in the olympics last year at college. I really enjoyed learning about the topic and found some really interesting articles on the history of the olympics concerning gender issues. Google it!

Well, genotype + environment do origin the athlete.
You know the environment plays anyway a relevant factor on Kenyans runners, not so many people can suffer as those people.
