it all depends what sport you play - your training has to be specific to your sport and better prepare you for the rigours of playing that sport

the key is sport-specific : the simple answer is to play and practise a lot, always with intensity, purpose and passion

You play the way you practice. If you want to get better at basketball, you practice shooting, dribbling, and passing.

That being said, it depends on your sport. Some sports over lap a little and others do not. Jogging and cycling go well( I have read of how many 10k champs cycle on their off days).

For endurance sports having strong heart is a must.
For football(american) and sprinters, explosive movements are a must. As well as a strong and powerful body.

Abdominal and lower back strength training can also benefit you regardless of sport.

I heard that apples give you energy than a cup of coffee. Apples usually work to get me pumped. I guess the usual, practice on and off the field, eat right. Spend extra time researching what exercises will help increase your jump or throw or whatever you want. Feel free to go up to other coaches and ask for help. Go to the weight room. Learn how to do the techinique right.

Practise more to be better at the game. What you should be practising depends on the game - but examples could be speed, stamina, jumping, hypertrophy etc.
