I tried ankle weights a few years ago but found them uncomfortable, annoying and they did not fit well so kept moving up and down on the ankle. I have found that the best way to improve sprinting with weight is to drag an object behind you, i.e. a rucksack, weight disc or tyre on a smooth surface like grass. Rgds

i used to use ankle weights when i was too slow when playing tennis and they definately helped. just playing for an hour with them on whilst sprinting at different times, caused me to sprint and run a lot quicker than before!

They do help. They are a little uncomfortable but they help.

As long as the type of the weightlifting is fast with low-medium amount of weight per excersise they help.

Not really, as they will effect the biomechanics of sprinting which will slow you down and condition poor movement biomechanics. Do plyometric exercises, such as speed bounds and hops instead.
