How do i get my athlete to relax when he runs?

Question:

How do i get my athlete to relax when he runs?

He is a 15 yo male.. he runs the 200 in 23sec(high)..But i can not get him to relax...he does his drills tight he runs tight arms look like chicken wings...and he has choppy strides, and poor flexability. I can't tell if it's his coordination keeping him from being able to flow when he runs.

practice coming out of the blocks for about 20-30 meters with proper technique (hands relaxed and open brushing the hips as they pass) over and over and over a few times a week. Part of the problem is probably starting the race "tight". By practicing technique coming out of the blocks you hel him to start the race properly and not have to think about form after already starting. Hope that helped?
