Question:

Training for more power and speed?

I am a male sprinter (100 and 200)aged 15 i do general speed training and resistence work i was wondering anyone got any new ideas to improver power speed and acceleration?
also what are your views on muscle supplements such as creatine and do you think they would help?

wow wow wow!!
right ok i think you know what ur talking about so im not going to patronise you, the simple facts are this if ur doing high intensity resistance training in my opinion you should stop as at 15years old ossification is still in full flow in your skeletal system meaning that you growth is going to be seriously stunted if you continue,also supplements i would tend to stay away from just now your too young for these to play a major part in your lifestyle just now.
what i would advise is working on technique-stride length,stride rate,accelaration technipue out of the blocks etc and also some static core stability to strengthen your deep core muscles making them more stable and giving a more efficiant transfer of energy work maybe some tubing resistance for youe hip flexors and extensors(gluts)theres also light resistance techniques for your arm swing using towels e.t.c that can be very effective...but if i was you ditch high intensity resistance and stay away from plyometrics for a few years.

Hey there fellow athlete. I would completely agree with the above comments but would like to add one thing: -

if u have gym access practice your deadlift and and squats. just moderate weights for 6- reps as this will improve your speed and strength. Also it does not have the impact of plyometrics while still allowing efficient bnone growth.
