Question:

How much can I swim with a Tennis Elbow?

Been swimming since age 7,Competitive - short & long distance swims, was on the National Swimming, diving & waterpolo team for most of my School and highschool years.Had to stop swimming after marriage at age 26. After the birth of my second son, & a major illness in 1996, I decided to start swimming again.I practised a little and against everyone's wishes enrolled for the course of a life guard with the YMCA.They helped me to regain my strength and confidence and I finally convinced the family to let me take up a part time job at a local club. It worked out until my son started school 3yrs later. So I had to give up the job.Now my son is in the sixth grade and I have taken up a part time job at a local school as a swim coach since I had also completed my course with the YMCA as a Swimming Instructor. But now the difficuty is in handling more than 20 children in 45mins.My Elbow is the problem.Local Drs. say that there is no remedy apart from rest BUT I would like to hear otherwise.I am 43 and I feel I have not done anything yet. I have been a housewife for a 20yrs.I love to teach little children to learn what I do best.I have already helped many people to get rid of their hydrophobia, especially the mothers who always try to push their children into sport, have found a new happiness after I taught them at special swim camps for Ladies. I love to see their smiling faces and sense of achievement however small it may seem to the world. It is tough to be a homemaker and achieve your own goal after keeping your whole family happy. When they achieve their simple goals their expectations rise and are converted into dreams which they feel their own children can realise with their constant support. This is what I would call my achievement. Awakening the parents to lay a solid foundation for their children to build upon and guiding them onto the path of a healthy and strong way of life.

In private practice I have seen quite a number of tennis elbow cases. I usually treat tennis elbow with a combination of dry needling(Western Acupuncture) and active release techniques (http://www.activerelease.com/providerSearch.asp?searchType=city&intCountryId=6&intStateId=98&strCity=) to find a provider in england. This usually brings full recovery of the patients symptoms, a good rehabilitation tool is a power ball, sold online at play.com amazon.co.uk etc.
Good Luck in your recovery
