Doubtful. Tendinitis generally comes from overuse or misuse. Generally it is the result of rubbing the tendon back and forth over something for an extended period of time. It is very rarely an acute injury response. However, something is obviously swollen. I would get in and have it checked by a doctor, maybe x-rayed. You probably can't really tell what is wrong without one.

Very unlikely to be tendinitis. More likely to be soft tissue damage of even structural damage eg. fracture. I would be getting an x-ray of the hand. Sometimes it can take a little while for the the inflammatory response of body to kick in. There are lots of little bones within the hand/wrist complex and these are easily broken. Sometimes even repeat x-rays are needed to pick up or diagnose a fracture as it may not show up on the first x-ray. If you have fractured a bone in the hand/wrist complex and it isn't treated correctly from the start the blood to supply to that particular bone may be comprimised and the bone may die off and then this can lead to a rigid wrist.

I would seriously look at getting it x-rayed. In the mean time lots and lots of icing. 20 mins every 2 hours.
