Question:

Triathlon transistions....

Does anyone have any tips for improving the transition times? I lost 10 mins during last years London Tri looking for my bike and getting sorted. I have purchased a pair of no tie laces for my running shoes but haven't done anymore. I was considering keeping my bike shoes on the bike but am worried about getting in them on the run.

Hi let me share with you what is my pratice in all the triathlon transition which i personlly feel that is fast.

Swim - So far all my triathlon including ironman distance i worn a swimming trunk to complete it.
(Swim suit if the countrie is cool)

Normally i will position my self infront of the groups at the start line and once the horn blow off i will run towards the sea and dive in and start my swim the same way i'm training in the pool.

Through out the swim i will try to spot someone to draft and saty near behind hin letting him work through out the swim about few hundred before reaching the shore i will break free and swim at my own.

Out from the sea i will slowly jog toward the T1.
You can mark it with a small red tower or you can just place a red ballon flying in the air for you to spot it. as for me i will go to the race ground early and look for marking for locate my bike.
(If thats a ironman race there wouldn't problem because they will pass you the bike)

When i reach the T1 first thing i will put on the tri-top, number tag clip on, sun glasses on, helmet on and unhock my bike push it to the bike start ling and kick off slowly will slight into the bike shoes.
(As i said you need to pratice)

About completing the bike 2km i will move my feet out from the shoes and let it relax prepare for the run.

When I reach T2 i will hock up the bike, helmet off and put on my running shoes(I'm using shoes lock).
Btw i'm dun wear sock so before i put on my shoes i will spray some baby oil on my feet.

And there i Hit the road and run like there's no tomorrow.

IMPORTANT:
You have to do a metal training of going through the trasition and not for getting going through pratice also.

Transition (1)
Attire - I worn a swimming trunk and a tri- top even is a ironmnan distance.

Bike Shoes - i will clip on the bike (you will have to practice it before the race)

Helmet place on top of the aero bar
number tag belt in the helmet and sunglasses in the helmet too.

Transition (2)
Running Shoes
Baby oil spray

Hope that all this can help you in the event.

feel free to eamil me at

Best Regards

Gus
