The only thing that would really help the deadlift if we're talking RM scores would be the deadlift

Disagree that deadlift is the only exercise to help deadlift. Any huge hip or triple extension exercise such as stiff leg/Romanian deadlifts, squatting, heavy pulls from blocks can assist in the deadlift. If you deadlift powerlifting style with hips high, then additional back work can assist.
I would doubt that aerobic rowing (even when technially performed correctly) would assist the deadlift. There is no full hip extension in rowing as there is in deadlifting. In terms of intensity and mechanics, they are a world away.
