weight loss, but body fat increase
i've been following a low fat diet over the last two weeks, 3 meals a day, 8 glasses fluid, 5+ portions fruit/veg the odd little treat and the odd measure of booze, no more than 4 units a week. I've been training 7 out of 14 days at the gym, including aerobic, body pump, legs bums and tums, and when not at the gym, i've gone for walks with the dog or done home aerobics or toning. I'm 5ft 5 inch starting weight 11 stone 1 pound, and down to 10 stone 9 pound, but my body fat has gone up from 33% to 42 %. How can that be? I can feel muscle definition building in my arms legs and abs, so don't understand this. do you think the scales are wrong that measure the body fat? or do you think i'm burning muscle from somewhere rather than fat? I don't understand how that could be when I can feel increase in muscle mass. but i'm worried as I have M.E. and need to protect the good parts of my body and my energy supplies up. please help

General household scales that measure body fat generally only measure the body up leading through the legs, use the hips as the turning point and continue down the other leg. It's not fully accurate.
Okay, if you're losing weight but your body fat is picking up, it means there's something wrong with your diet. Please go and see a dietician. You have the right idea of eating meals with fruit and veg in between, but maybe you aren't getting a fully balanced diet. Also, note the energy consumption and energy expenditure. If I may suggest, try building a little bit of muscle as this helps increase the BMR (basal metabolic rate). Cardio, 20 minutes with high intensity workout on the floor keeping the heart rate high for as long as you can handle. Again you would need to contact your doctor or physician for clearance and advice.
Don't forget to warm up and cool down properly and MAKE SURE YOU STRETCH!
Good luck!
