Question:

Energy levels...

I am on a hi protein diet (35% carb,35% prot, 30% fat) which is working to get off the weight I put on over winter (5-6 lbs)theonly problem is my energy levels are very low. Is there anything I can take as a supplement to boost my energy levels without compromising my diet?

Why such a low carb % ? + why 30% fat . Where is your energy supply comin from --fat ? Is this a good idea if youre trying to lose weight I wönder.

If you are on a low carb diet and are working out...does your body not hit your fat stores quicker than if you were on a higher carb diet? I.E, distance athletes carb load to ensure they have glycogen stores available for energy during the race...

Are you supplementing after working out? Like the distance athletes, you need to replace that glycogen to keep your energy rolling for the rest of the time.

It does cause a slight reduction in "potential" fat loss, but it might make a positive difference in the long run...because if you run out of energy, you won't be burning fat anyhow!

Your body is working harder because energy is not readily available to it...maybe strike a compromise. Also, I agree with the guy who questions why you want to maintain so low a carb percentage...it is hard on the body to process that much protein, too.
