Question:

why cant i lose weight part 2

This is an update and a request for further advice....please see my profile for part 1.
Im now 110% fit, exercising 2-4 times a week, 30 mins of intense cardio and 30-45 mins of weights. I hired a personal trainer 6 weeks ago and have been working well. However his recommendation for weight loss was also 1500 despite the fact some of you have told me it is too little. I have been told by several people that i actually need 2300 calories at 5ft 7 and 12st 5 just to maintain and to cut that down by 800 calories a day would result in a weight loss of 2pounds per week. My trainer affirms this. So this is what i have been doing to the absolute letter.....my trainer says im one of the fittest hard working women he has ever know and is baffled as to why i cannot seem to shift this weight......my fat percentage is over 30% im 37, possibly peri-menopausal. The results of my blood tests were absolutely fine apart from a slight under performing liver believed to be as a result of taking a years worht of antibiotics......got a nutritionist did a liver detoc and repair for a month and awaiting the results of second bloods to see if improved. Other than this im the healthiest, fittest but heaviest i have ever been in my life.......Are there any companys or people out there who can figure this out with me? What am i doing or not doing right....its always worked in the past, its just not working now. The knife is getting ever more attractive...HELP!!! please!!!

Hi Zoe,

I feel confidant I can help. I know you already got a request for more information, but I have a few questions I need answers to. Specifically,

1. What type of cardio are you doing?
Intense doesn't give me enough details. Are you running, biking, walking, etc? What method do you typically use? Ex. high intensity interval training or running at a steady pace? If you do high intensity interval training, which intervals are you using, ex. one minute run, one minute walk, etc.

2. What order do you perform training in? Cardio first, then strength training or vice versa?

3. What type of strength training do you do? Supersets, circuit training or general 3 sets of 10 reps, etc?

4. If you had to define your level of intensity while exercising what number would you give it? On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being really really hard and barely able to complete the work and 1 being exceptionally easy? Is it different for weight training and cardio or are the work levels the same?

5. Are you comfortable divulging your weight and how many pounds you want to lose?

6. How many times a day do you eat? Can you give me an example of one day of eating?

Sorry for all the questions, but I know I can help you if I understand exactly where we are starting from.
