I wouldn't have thought so. Most runners will do a heavy weights session as part of their training as it requires good strength. You may however lose muscle mass through a large amount of running. The top runners have a small upper body, but it does not necessarily mean they are not strong.

Not really, strength gains are a result of the quality of your strength workout and recovery. Running will train up your aerobic stamina which make you a more well rounded player, you defintely need that if you want to play well. So you just don't do too much running session and have quality strength workout and you be good.

Short answer: yes.
Long, slow cardio is not a good match for weight training - IF you want to excel at weight training alone and be competitive.
Both are great if you want to just balance out your workouts, but being very very good (competitive level) at both endurance and strength training at the same time is nearly impossible.

Running requires a lot of strength so i don't think it will but of course if you don't do any lifts in the period when running it will weaken your strength.
