Question:

Does anyone have any advice for offseason wrestling training?

I'm trying to find training routines and techniques to get better at wrestling in the offseason. We've already started lifting as a team but I feel like I should do more.

I'm not sure what others think, but having wrestled in high school I know I would have wnated more time in open mats.

One of the first things you learn in exercise science is specificity. Train for the sport you are playing-runners run, swimmers swim, etc. The weight lifting should be enough in the off season to maintain and build strength. What you should be doing in addition is perfecting your shots, holds, and moves. Find a partner close to your weight and just practice those. It's not 100%, 1 on 1, just making the movements second nature.

I'm not sure if that's the kind of answer you were looking for, but that's what I suggest.

Isometrics is teh way to go. You need to train your isometric strength if you are to perform best in wrestling. Isometric strenght is the key to improve your performance as all the holds and moves you make put your muscles in an isometric contraction.
