in 1973,i joined the marine corps.here are the training routines i went through in boot camp:
i had to perform 60 pushups in 60 seconds/i had to do 60 pull ups in 60 seconds/i had to do 60 situps in 60 seconds;the,i had to run 3 miles.
after 3 weeks training,i went from 160 pounds to 128 pounds.
the sequence of excercises was:pushups, situps, pullups;then run.after that,i ate breakfast.
anyone who follows that training will be very fit within 2-3 months.you may even be competetive in sports;but, not on a professional level.you will become very strong also.
some of the running[sprinting]involved interval runs.this running excercise will develope speed, endurance, and breath control.on a running track,i had to run full speed on the long runs;then run slow speed alternately.this is a very good excercise for most runners.
in the later stages of training,i had to run 26 miles with a rifle that had concrete in the barrel, boots, and a backpack loaded with rocks.
when i left the marines,i ran with a backpack of rocks.that developed my endurance, strength, and breathing.
i also had to swim with a backpack, boots, and my arms tied behind my back,my legs tied together;and,a rifle.this was a training for escape from a prison camp in case i became a pow[prisoner of war].

How the hell do you do 60 pullups in 60 seconds??? I can do sets of 20 wide arm overhand grip but no where near 60 in 60 secs. How would you train to do this?? Pse help as i love pullups and i am also in the forces and would love to be able to bang out this many in one go. Cheers
