News from the zoo... our resident Gorilla competes in the Great North Run!
I will be attending the annual gorilla reunion to compete in the Save The Gorilla's Race on September 26th 2009. Click here if you're interested in joining me!
Hello Sports Fans,
Well, I just about survived the Great North Run although the heat was a bit of a problem for this 60 year old gorilla. I think I actually won the over 60's Gorilla race in two hours and seven minutes so to celebrate my trainer let me have my favourite recovery meal- a plate of chips and gravy! What a nice man, I thought.
Little did I know that he was softening me up for some bad news. He's worried that I might escape during Saturday's Gorilla Run so he has kitted me out as a Hawaiian Hula Hula girl complete with grass skirt and garlands so that he can find me at the end. If you see number 568, that's me. I feel utterly ridiculous but if you see me please shout "Hey Mikey" and make me feel better.
What's even worse is that my trainer is now sleeping in my cage with me. He forgot his wife's wedding anniversary again and she told him that unless he bought her something that went from 0 to 200 in six seconds he was dead meat. So he bought her some bathroom scales.
Now that he isn't allowed back in his house he took himself off to a conference on nutrition to keep himself warm and to find something safer for me to eat than baked beans. Apparently, the dietician said that most of the things we eat are poisonous but there is one food that is the worst of all, does anyone know what it is. So he says "Wedding Cake"
At times he is his own worst enemy and muggins here is the one who always suffers.
Anyway, enough of him. Should I by any chance survive the humiliation on Saturday it's on to somewhere called "The Dome" on Sunday where I'm entertaining the crowds in another half marathon called Run To The Beat. I didn't even know that beetroot ran, I thought it was just noses.
If I am out of the recovery position by this time next week I will let you know how painful it all was.
