What are your views on the crooked scrum feed in rugby?
There have been so blatant examples of crooked scrum feeds in recent top level rugby matches and these incidents have gone unchecked by the referee. This poses a difficult situation if you happen to be coaching young rugby players who look up to professional players, expecting to see best practice. The question for coaches is - what do you tell your players? Go for it, if the pros can get away with it...? or No, it's breaking the rules, don't do it! If you feel strongly about this issue and it affects your coaching, we'd like to hear your views.

Crooked feeds
Whilst I am in not in the position of a coach(but a retired Player),I can only agree with you .The straight feed seems to be the exception nowadays. It is as though no one in the game regards this as a rule of the game and I do not understand why.Which almost gives the strike against the head the status of a miraculous event
Crooked feeds and players
Crooked feeds and players getting away with it have been going on for years. Yes it's been getting more blatant. Even when I was playing 15 years ago it was common to see at top level(Gloucester RFC supporter). I played scrum half at a lower level and other scrum halfs were crooked feeding much to my annoyance. You complain to the referee and he does nothing about it, so as a scrum half you just do the same. They may as well just do away with the rule.
Crooked feeds compared to lineout
The whole point of rugby is that there is supposed to be a contest for the ball. In a lineout the ref blows up for a slightly unfair throw and the players genuinely compete. The scrum in the modern game is a contest, but it's a contest to see which side can milk the penalty. The scrum feed is one issue but the entire policing of the scrum is a mess.
