Juice plus problems: "More energy from Juice Plus? It didn't work for me" ...Antony Haynes .Institute of Optimum Nutrition .London
The NSA distributor indicated to me that I should have taken up to six of each per day, not two, which would have cost £90 per month. Furthermore, he did say that, of course Juice Plus would only contain what fruit and vegetables contain and therefore would not provide all the nutrients that were found in my regular supplements.
I sought after independent studies of the contents of Juice Plus, but there was only one independent laboratory analysis which I got from an NSA distributor. If there are others I would welcome sight of them.
The study compares two Juice Plus capsules with an 8oz portion of different fruit and vegetable juices. The 'Orchard Blend' Juice Plus capsule, based on fruit, was found to have three times as much vitamin C and over twice as much beta-carotene as a popular brand of orange juice. Freshly squeezed juice has fractionally more beta-carotene than Juice Plus (107%) and a fraction of the vitamin C content (9%). Popular brands of vegetable juices tended to have more vitamin C than Juice Plus 'Garden Blend' but less beta-carotene. Freshly squeezed vegetable juice had more beta-carotene (139%) and a fraction of the vitamin C content (9%) compared to Juice Plus. Juice Plus is comparable in fibre content to normal juice and substantially lower in calories, sodium and sugar.
From this analysis, I can only conclude that Juice Plus provides reasonable sources of antioxidant nutrients. Antioxidants have been found to be important to athletes for both protecting against exercise-induced muscle damage, and to help support their immune systems which may be compromised by training intensity. Whether Juice Plus is better or worse in effect, or cost-effectiveness, than other supplements has not, to my knowledge, been studied.

Are you kidding me with

Are you kidding me with this? What kind of research ends in two weeks? And what kind of legitimacy do you get when you say "I felt tired." Please there are a million things that could have caused that, including your imagination. I can't believe you would write something like this after trying the product for two measly weeks. Some great scientist you are. And, sorry, but trying the product doesn't exactly qualify as research.
Not only that, but you also go on and on about the minerals in juice versus Juice Plus+ but you totally forget to bother with the bioavailability part. It doesn't matter if something is fortified with iron if the iron isn't bioavailable it may as well have none because your body can't use it. Milk has LOTS of calcium, and broccoli doesn't have much, but your body can actually benefit a great deal more from and absorb a great deal more calcium from broccoli than from milk, because the calcium in broccoli works synergistically with all the other minerals in broccoli to benefit your body much more. And since when are calories, sugar, and sodium good for you, by the way??
And I highly doubt anyone at NSA told you to take four caplets of fruits and 4 caplets of veges per day, because that is not the dosage of Juice Plus+.
Nice try, trying to degrade a great product, but your science is, well, not science at all. If NSA has one unbiased study (they actually have 12, if memory serves me, and that doesn't count the ones for kids) it is one more than you have to disprove its effectiveness.
Clearly you just wrote this as a way to dis the product for some selfish reason, not to actually inform the public.
Very Unprofessional!

I agree with Smork's reply. Antony, you have made a fool of yourself, as well as your profession, (nutritional consultant?), as well your workplace (Optimum Nutrition?). The so-called "Study" you conducted failed to be legitimate, unbiased, controlled, fair, scientific, or qualitative / quantitatively measurable in any real sense.
You mentioned the "anecdotal" evidence for JuicePlus, whereas it is actually one of the few whole-food supplements (concentrates) that has several 3rd party (through recognized universities and medical journals), legitimate scientific studies to verify it's bioavailability, it's measurable health benefits, it's nutritive value (maintained via microfiltration processing), and other important research to determine it's significance in a healthy diet. Have you read any of this research? It's available to you.
Also, the fact that you eliminated all of your other "supplements" before starting JuicePlus would clearly make a difference in your initial energy levels. Did you take several weeks without ANY supplements first, to see how you 'felt' (since that is what you based it's efficacy on)? In addition, it can take several weeks (over 2 months) for the cells in your body to regenerate and for any significant health changes to manifest from changes in diet. How long was your, um, 'study'?
I certainly hope your article doesn't negatively affect Optimum Nutrition's reputation. You are lucky a lawyer for JuicePlus hasn't read your article... bashing other nutrition companies (without grounds) is opening you up to serious trouble.
Go back to your mega-vitamins until you learn how to conduct unbiased research.
WTF???????????????????
hopesoooo
Of course you felt less energy you quit everything you took everyday for over 4 years of course you had no energy. Your body was needing the regiment that it was use to for all those years. You can't quit cold turkey and think it won't effect you.I am far from being a doctor or a scientist it just common sense. Of course you felt better once you went back to your over 4 year regiment. Try adding Juice Plus to your regiment its really not for energy but for filling the fruit and veg. void that is hard to fill with our busy lifestyles we all live to survive in the 21st Century. Its hard to eat healthy with scheduling especially the daily recommended amount of fruits and veg..

juice plus
dstory
The fact that Juice Plus is a MLM automatically destroys any credibility a distributer may have. You now have a vested interest in the product and whether or not you can convince anyone to use/purchase it. If it was the intention of Juice Plus to make this Miracle product available to everyone you could find it in stores. This is clearly not the intention of any MLM. The intention is to make money and to convince willing distributors they can profit from selling their product for them. Ergo lack of credibility. It is juice thats been processed and altered from its original form. It simply cannot take the place of eating well, in fact it cannot come close. It is a way for NSA to make money just as they have done for decades, by convincing those who are looking for easy money and an alernative to responsible eating, that this is their answer.
