1) What is Peak Performance?

Peak Performance is a subscription-only newsletter for athletes, featuring the latest research from the sports science world. We cover the whole range of sports, from running and rowing to cycling and swimming, and each issue is packed full of exclusive information for anyone who’s serious about sport. It’s published 12 times a year by Electric Word plc. Peak Performance is not available in the shops – only our subscribers are able to access the valuable information we publish.

2) How can I trust the information you publish?

Through Peak Performance, we have been offering indispensable advice to athletes and coaches for over 16 years. Our writers are leading authorities in the fields of sports science, health, and fitness. Furthermore, we do not sell advertising space in our newsletters because we are committed to providing authoritative and independent information free from editorial bias. 3) How do I subscribe to Peak Performance Online?

Just click on this link and follow the simple instructions. You’ll need to provide your credit/debit card details along with your name, address and email address. All card transactions are securely routed through WorldPay, the leading provider of online payment processing.

4) What is Worldpay and how does it work?

Worldpay is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland, and the world’s leading online payment service. When you subscribe to Peak Performance, your details are submitted securely to Worldpay who automatically inform us of your subscription. They will send you an email confirming the transaction, along with a Worldpay user name and password which you can use to access their site and administer your subscription. At no point does anyone at Peak Performance have sight of your credit/debit details. Any transactions processed by us will appear on your bank or credit card statement with the exact description of www.pponline.co.uk next to it.

5) What payment methods does Worldpay accept?

Worldpay accepts all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Switch, Electron, JCB, Solo and Delta.

6) I don’t want to pay by credit card. What should I do?

Currently we are only able to receive payment through a credit card transaction. However in the coming weeks there will be a facility that will enable you to pay by direct debit.

7) Will you sell or give my email address to anyone else?

No. We never sell or pass on our customers’ details, including email addresses, to any third parties.

8) I received an email newsletter from Peak Performance but have not subscribed. What’s going on?

As well as our subscription-only newsletter, we also publish a free email newsletter called Sports Performance Bulletin. This is sent to people who have asked to be included on our mailing list after visiting Peak Performance or one of our affiliate sites. Sports Performance Bulletin contains free information and is sent out weekly. Recipients of Sports Performance Bulletin are under no obligation to purchase a subscription to Peak Performance – but you’ll need to subscribe if you want the competitive edge Peak Performance gives its paying subscribers.

9) How can I unsubscribe from Sports Performance Bulletin and other Peak Performance emails?

You’ll find a link at the bottom of the email allowing you to automatically and immediately unsubscribe. Alternatively, you can send an email with ‘Unsub’ in the subject line to the address shown at the foot of the email, but please note that it may take a few days to process requests made through this route.

10) Is this publication available internationally?

Yes. If you have access to the internet, you can read Peak Performance. When you subscribe online, you can choose to pay in US dollars, Euros or British pounds, but as it’s an automated credit card system, the payment will be converted into your local currency when you see your credit card statement. At the moment, Peak Performance is only published in English.

11) Can I advertise on your sites?

Subscribers' FAQs

1) I subscribed to Peak Performance online but I haven’t received anything since. How do I access my subscription?

You can access Peak Performance as soon as you subscribe - your issues of Peak Performance and your free reports are ready for you to download now. Go to the members' area and use your username and password to log in. These were chosen by you when you subscribed and can be found within the ‘Welcome to Peak Performance Online’ email that you received subsequently. All issues and special reports are stored as PDF files, so you will need Adobe Reader or a similar reader to view them.

2) How will I know when the latest issue has been published?

Whenever a new issue of Peak Performance is published, we’ll email you to let you know. You will then need to log in to the subscribers area with your user name and password to download it.

3) What if I don’t have Adobe Reader installed on my PC?

Adobe Reader is a free piece of software that can be downloaded from the Adobe website:

4) What if I use a Mac?

No problem. Mac users can also download and read Peak Performance, as long as you have a PDF reader and access to the internet. Adobe Reader is compatible with Macs running OS 7.5.3 or above. Mac OS X users can also use Preview, which is pre-installed along with Mac OS X and will open PDF files automatically.

5) I have forgotten my username and/or password. What do I do?

You can ask for an email containing your password from the login area of the members page. If this doesn't work then please send an email to [email protected] and we will get back to you with the details you need.

6) Do you publish any other newsletters and how do I subscribe?

Electric Word also publishes Sports Injury Bulletin, which offers a more specialised service from our team of experts. Peak Performance is published monthly so you will receive 12 issues in a year.

8) I have a question about something that was contained in an article. How do I get a response?

To submit your question to our community of sporting experts simply visit our Q&A page and click on the 'Ask a Question' button in the top right hand corner of the page. Athletes can earn points here for asking and answering questions which can be spent in the online shop.

Alternatively, try searching the site for articles relating to your question using the Google search box in the top left hand corner of this page.

9) Is there any way to access issues in plain text or something other than PDF?

Not at the moment, but we are working on providing alternatives in the near future.

10) How do I order back issues of Peak Performance?

You can buy back issues of Peak Performance in our online shop.

11) How do I cancel my subscription?

Online subscribers can cancel their subscriptions themselves. Go to Worldpay and log in using your Worldpay user name and password. This is different to your Peak Performance user name and password and can be found in the email that Worldpay sent you when you subscribed, entitled ‘WorldPay Regular FuturePay Electric Word plc’. Once you’re logged in you need to click ‘View Details’. From here, you can choose ‘cancel’. If you have lost your Worldpay login details, please email [email protected] with ‘Cancel subscription’ in the subject line.

12) How can I obtain a receipt?

Please email [email protected] detailing the approximate dates or issues that you want a receipt for.

13) My email address has changed. How do I update my subscription details?

Please send an email to [email protected] and we will amend your details.
