I would appreciate any input from you coaches on interviewing for a coaching job. How did you prepare? What questions did you ask? Women coaches, what do you recommend for what to wear? How did you follow-up after your interview? Any other suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you for your time. coach_blue

The goal of the interview is to see if the candidate coach fits the job. So this works both way round: try to match the job profile with the candidate background and experiences. Try a different perspective: culture? ambition?

Everybody should walk away with a clear understanding that everything that could be relevant has been brought to the table.

Follow-up? discuss the procedure, time-frame, etc. Try to be practicle as possible.

research the program you're applying to. what are their traditions? what are their strengths and weaknesses? who actually makes the hiring decision? what EXACTLY will be your duties? who handles fund raising?

All coaches, no matter what the gender, should dress in business sutiable clothing. you can wear sweats to your practices, but not to an interview. don't dress like you're going clubbing after the interview.

the old adage about not getting a second chance to make a first impression is dead on.
