I work in the field of Emotional Intelligence and I'm interested if any one uses emotional or energy techniques to increase their performance in the sport and exercise domains? I'm running a workshop on Peak Performance using energy techniques and we have been focussing on the business domain. However, we recently had a UK lead sports coach sign up for the workshop and I wondered if anyone thought this would have a wider interest in the sports / exercises field?

Mark, I think you've hit a good point. Emotional intelligence, state and emotions managing is the perfect complement to physical training, and nowadays more than ever it's being used in sports.
It is used by authors such as Anthony Robbins for various areas, ranging from athletes to CEOs to presidents of countries. Usually, this kind of training has only one objective: Making the person become unstoppable.
It usually stems from the premise, which I also agree with, that there are no superior or inferior people. We all, as humans, have infinite potential. The millionaire on Fortune 500 Magazine, the peak athlete, the housewife next door, we are all the same and all have the same potential.
However, due to social conditioning and this magic pill culture we think we're inferior and others are superior or magical due to some obscure reason. So, coaches that use emotional intelligence seek to remove those mental barriers and eliminate all the clutter to leave the athlete/coachee with only one though in their mind:
We are all human, we all have infinite potential, and we can all be excellent right here, right now.
So in sum, to answer your question, emotional intelligence is used, not that widely currently, but in a growing manner and with more and more expansion and results!
Hope I helped :)
