I need some help in annalysing backstroke as I kwwp finding conflicting information. I am trying to work out the movements occurring at each
joint; what degrees of range of motion occurrs at each joint; which muscles cause the movement; which muscles control or break the movement; which muscles stabilise each joint; which muscles are working iscometrically, concentrically or eccentrically.
This is just the first part of my assignment and would really love some help if anyone knows.
Many Thanks
Suzie

How are you analysing the movement - are you filming the movement with a camera and using computer software to do this? The problem with analysing movements in water with a camera is displacement. The film is collecting data through the water, then air and finally through the glass lens. This can alter the appearance dramatically of the movement from film.

There is a book which I think is called Biomechanics of Sports Technique which has a section on swimming. It breaks down angular motion etc. I think it may also go into the movements, muscles and joint ROM's.
