To whom it may concern,

hi there mr./ms expert,
I just recently joined your website and signed up for a regular
newsletter update, but i need to ask a really important question and the
sooner i receive a reply the better it would be for my training program. I was told that i could post my question here and it would be promptly answered by a professional in the field. i can only imagine just how busy you must be, so i will keep this short.
for the past 3.5 months my training has consisted of

-Going to the gym immediately following waking up, arriving at 7-30 and
beginning workout, not having had breakfast-train on the stationary bike
for
45 minutes, sometimes 1 hour if i have the time, and then entering the
muscle conditioning suite and performing a compelte body work-out,
achieing muscle fatigue at the end of each set, compeltely 2-3 sets,
each of ~12 reps...using all the machines in the gym

-i do this 6-7 days a week

-i have noticed that the people training on the treadmill burn calories
at a much more efficient rate than myself...sometimes achieving the same
calorie burn in about half the time...despite the fact that my cycling
is on level 7

-the reason why i have always been afraid of the treadmill is becuase i
have always been told that, especially for females of my age (18 turning
19 in
june) it is the worst option for the breasts..it weakens them by
loosening the connective tissue, and such training always has harmful
effects on the knees and ankles...

-i need your expert advice and need to sort my fears once and for all,
perhaps there is not that much to fear, and i could achieve results
twice as fast if i switch to the treadmill instead..

--thank you for your help..and please reply as soon as you can

best regards,
perry

Answer to the breast question, if you are larger than average bust wise, there is more chance of "loosening the connective", though a good sports bra would help, if average then just a good sports bra would be ok.

And if you are either heavy or run heavily or with poor technique on poor surfaces then you run the risk of damage to the knees and to a lesser degree the ankles (tread mills are sprung, and replacing running shoes regularly will lessen the risk), long term then the knees may suffer (20 years down the line maybe)

If you are training with weights on all 5 or 6 days then you are very probably over training, especially if you are doing a complete body workout each time.
I would suggest doing either 3 muscle workouts per week working the whole body each time, with a rest day in between, or a 2 day split, wher you work upper body one day, then lower body the next then rest 1 to 2 days and repeat.
Youe do not say what your prime goals are weight loss, general fitness, muscle gain.

Hope that goes some way towards helping you out

sometimes low on energy first thing in the morning

Re: ENERGY LEVELS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING...

Everyone knows that the best time to work out is in the morning, just after you wake up and before you have any breakfast, and that is what i have been doing, however, on some days, especially when the last time i have anything to eat averages about 14 hours prior to awaking, i can't perform as long as i intend to, and was wondering if there is a way to get around that...perhaps having some protein before going to the gym? i really don't want to have any carbohydrates, as i aim to take advantage of the depleted glycogen stores, thus maximise triglyceride catabolism

many thanks for your time.

kind regards,
perry
