Hi Sporty.
I graduated from St Mary's two years ago in sports science and human biology. I did not have an interview for the sports science but I know everyone for P.E. teaching did.
I think the interview is just that if applying for the undergraduate three year course - not sure if they will expect anything else from you as you will be expected to pick up your coaching badges as you go.
If you are applying for the PGCE teaching post then you will have an interview and take a small coaching lesson. Friends of mine had to teach gymnastic movements and a small coaching session for fottball/rugby.
The sports science courses there are getting pretty good with more choice than when I went there- still got freinds/brother and lecturers I know who teach the modules who have said the structure is a lot better. I know they have purchased some more biomechanical instruments like force platforms etc and new lecturers are in the area too.
It's a great college for sport and has recently been part of a partnership with the English Institute of Sport so the facilities are slowly being upgraded. Got a new strength and conditioning suite there and finally getting a new runnig track. The sports teams there are also very good.
Hope this helps.
