Hey everyone.
I am a 26 year old football (soccer) player and i play at a decent standard. I have been on the fringe for the past 1 year or so and i cant reach that peak i know i can reach. Its not my football playing ability thats the problem for me. Its the fitness level i need to get to the next level with. I also need a proper diet to stick by as i have never really been giving the right advise on which food to eat for footballers ect. So if anyone out there could help me with maybe a weight training program to go along side my actual football training and a diet i could stick by it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Dear maccer85

Sounds like you have done really well so far, but your problem is a common one I see with many of my clients.

Unfortunately being coached by an "ex player" who has received no formal sports science education, or possesses the necessary test equipment to truly assess full physiological spectrum performance, often leaves sports people like yourself stuck on the fringe forever.

That's not to say that there aren't some very knowledgeable unqualified coaches out there, its just that in order to help you break though the fringe, as you said, you need some extra very specific help.

The right training and nutrition is essential in taking anyone to that next level, and most people who fail to get there have your problem in they do not know how to set/follow a structured training and nutrition plan in line with the demands of their specific sport, and most importantly they have never received any formal testing to act as a benchmark or where they are at.

If you are based in the UK and would like to come and see me, I could work with you in assessing your full physiological spectrum fitness and nutrition practices, and then create a tailor made programme based on your results, and the demands of football in taking you to the next level.

To fellow pponline members I offer a 20% discount on my already very reasonable prices. Just to give you an idea a 7 day nutrition review, Electronic Body Composition Analysis Scan and a full physiological sport specific assessment (incorporating up to 20 tests) normally costs £195.00

A 16 week sport specific fitness, nutrition, strength and conditioning programme carried out following your assessment, and taking into consideration your results, motivation factors and most importantly time available to train around your other commitments costs £180.00

I am based in South Wales just 25 minutes north of Cardiff so I you did feel that this is something that important to you that it is worth spending a few hundred pounds on, then I would be happy to help you.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me. Also take a look at my website for more information.

If you are not in the UK, then I would seriously advise seeking out the services of someone along my lines in your country rather than wasting time by trying to figure it out for yourself.

Good luck.

Simon
