Stuart Pearce has been identified as the man to manage Great Britain's football team at the 2012 Olympics.
Football Association general secretary Alex Horne said the England Under-21 coach was the "logical choice", and wants to have him in place by June.
With the England Under-21s set to form the British Olympic side in the run-up to the London Games, Horne sees Pearce as the ideal man to take charge.
"I will talk to the board about the timing of the appointment," he added.
