Hi i'm barry legend, i'm new, i'm an engineering student and i'm 19 years old with more ambition than a hungry dog but not the confidence to get the bone.
Sometimes i feel like my life has no direction and like my life is just a weird but interesting story, but it's not, not at all. I have one dream which consumes me day in, day out and i live with regret. I'm a keen footballer and i have a great talent which i want to develop and my teachers told me to develop, i think i'm good and i proved it in my school days. I was a good midfielder, one of those players you see on the pitch who makes a difference. Confidence is what is bringing me down though, i lust for the opportunity to play at pro-leve. i believe i could do it but coz of my lack of confidence, i don't have the balls to do it.
I've always looked up to my sporting idol Diego Maradona who inspired me from a young age watching him on t.v. even though it was the sunset years of his career. Everything i've learnt was from him, romario, baggio, bebeto, ginola, giggs. I'm both footed but my stronger is my right foot.
My family are all very talented at it and some have played semi-pro b4 and i could compete with them. Me, my bro and my cuz's mario & costa, we were good players and a good team in casual football.
The other thing that eats me is although i do 5 a-side football, i'm still unhappy, i play against ppl who play semi- pro level and we still outshine.
I don't know wot to do and i think my want in living the dream is slowly nearing the gutter. I know life has no boundaries and not to give up on a dream unless it gives up on me but i just need somewhere to start. It wud be nice to find out if there's anyone on here who feels the same and can help. I need help. I am also very glad that there is a site like this where ppl can comment on there sporting achievments and there ambitions in sporting activity. To be creative and have a sporting talent are great qualities. There's nothing like ambition, talent, determination and watching my fellow country greece win euro 2004 was a prime example of this. Keep at it everyone.

you just have to work your butt off and have confidence. it is as simple as that. everytime you feel like giving up before your last rep in the wieght room or that last lap around the track use your goal as inspiration.
Good Luckb

Well, it's the best time of your life, and it's the most hectic time of your life. It means it can be hard to stay focused on what you want. How bad do you want it kid? There could be a lot of things at this point in your life that you want too? If it is truly your passion to play ball, you will! Don't ever give up. So long as you are still playing, look for opportunities even if they are just small ones. These small opportunities will bring you to your goal, your dream! Look for the opportunities, network, the opportunities will present themselves, and ignore the na-sayers. What do they know anyway? It is easy at your age to feel as you do. Most people as young as you lack self-discipline to persevere through these times. I am not saying this to criticize you, but to bring things like your self - confidence, or self-concept into the foreground. I believe you can make it, do you? Now, get a grip, pick yourself up, and get back in there. Show yourself you can do this. You don't have to prove it to anyone else but yourself right now. All everyone else will see is you shine! Hey barry this is Guy Coggins I love soccer just like you. I also have an ambition to play division 1 college soccer sometime after I graduate. I have a great idea for you. That I think you can get your confidence back with. You should try to get on a Division 1 College soccer team. Im sure if you can hang with semi pro guys you can out play college soccer guys. Plus this will help you get some of that confidence back and in a couple seasons who knows pro scouts might come knocking on your door asking you to play for them. I believe any footballer, if inclined enough, can achieve a dream. I am all for you man. I never really had your problem with confidence because I never say I cannot do something. I just drill it into my head so many times it is a habit. Soccer is great man. Give me a reply.
Good luck,
hey

hey Barry, my name is Kirsten, wow you seem very ambitous, and sometimes you don't feel that much into it, i know how you feel, well i play rugby and I can relate to you. I have felt like you. when I felt like you, i knew, i couldn't give up, i have a huge dream to play for my country. and I know how much i want it, how much I want to be my best at this sport, and to dedicate my life preety much to it. I think of the positives, this is my goal I want to live it so I will do my best and if theres pittfalls i'll learn from them and become stronger. I also know I would have alot more fun travelling around the world with my team mates than going to work in a banking office everyday! haha yah right, but just think of it. You only live once and with that you should enjoy life, so do it with something you love and makes you shine, also when your older and retired, you have something to look back to make you smile and proud of yourself. I am sure Diego Maradona felt like this sometimes. You have come this far mineaswell keep going and become your best. when you do have some doubts, just think how much you would give to be Diego Maradona, just think about when you were a child, that you looked up to him, how much inspiration you had, and how much you wanted to be like him. Just don't give up and keep going.
My aunt that passed away a few years ago had a quote I always looked up to, and I also looked up to her. she always shined and lived her life to the fullest.
"Live your life to the fullest"
That quote has made me go so very far, and it also has a story behind it.
