Hello,
I am a 37 y.o. female new to riding this spring. I just bought my road bike almost 2 months ago. Last summer i spent my evenings riding my wal-mart mountain bike all the while in pursuit of my new bike.
I need all the help i can get. I have been riding with a group of gals that meet a a local bike shop. I suppose our average speed is 17-18 mph at the longest distance of 28 miles so far this spring. I could only hang for 24 of them. My top speed thus far is 25 mph for about 1 minute. All of these girls are in better shape than i am , i have; 2 out of 5 rides fallen behind.
I so want to catch up to these girls and at least hang at the back of the pace line. Some of these gals have been riding for years,a couple train year round for triatholons.
How do i improve my fitness?
And...my legs have been sore for two weeks straight.
Any thoughts? anyone?
