Hi, I've been running on a regular basis for 2 years 1/2. This year my goal was to run a half marathon in 1h40, I did 1h41 in a very windy condition (the last 12k were into a 30km/h head winds), so I was very happy(My PB was 1h43.45)! Also I wanted for the last race of my 2004 season to run under 43m43s for a 10k, and I had an excellent race I managed a 43.07, a great way to finish a season! But my biggest achievement this season was that I finally cured my digestion problem that I had on my long runs (25k+). With the season that I had this year I'm thinking of retrying for a fall marathon next year, and maybe try to finish around 3h30-3h45 range!
I run 4-5 times a week and average in between 35k to 75k. My training are usually easy runs, tempo, out/back, intervals(200m to 1600m) and long runs.

Wow, That is really impressive! They sound like great times to me. I've had to convert your kilometers to miles just for my head, but your last 10K was just under 7.00 minute miles, cool. You average 34.1 miles on any given week, but sometimes about 46.5 miles. That is a lot more miles than I have time for unless I am training to run a marathon, of which I've only run one of. It sounds like you have a good plan for your improvement, and the goals sound very attainable. Your last run of the year, that 10K a 43.07 you had a good pace. I ran a 10K the last time out and I ended up with 45.43, but the first 1/2 of the race I was in the like 6.20 / 6.30 mile pace, but I couldn't maintain it on the back end.
However, it was a personal best for me. I have been working hard lately on my short run, and perhaps it is beginning to pay off. I've really only started to get serious about running since January 2004 which started with a marathon that I ran on May . . . May 30th in Burlington Vt.
The Vermont City Marathon. I was a really fun Marathon, and it is limited to 7,000 runners. I plan to go back in May 2005 to do it again. You see I ended up with an IT Band injury 21.5 miles into the run. It sidelined me for about 10 or 15 minutes, and I had to walk a bit. I walked past the 22 mile marker at 3:40, so there is a good chance I could have finished in under 4hrs. Now that would have been cool! I had like a 1:30 for my 1/2 marathon time. I am prone to be swept away with the moment and a few thousand runners at that time, I guess. Anyway, I am looking to get a 3:20 or less for my next marathon attempt in an effort to qualify for Boston.
Now, if you change your mind perhaps a spring marathon could make it to your calendar I think the date in 2005 for the VCM is May 26th. It's a big event in Vermont, and it is a very popular marathon, and was listed in Runner's World September issue as one of the BEST OF. I've run it, and can second that motion! What's that about 4 hours from you in Montreal?
They just sent out registration form for next May. I think the email is VCM.ORG (www) of course first. If you look it up, and decide you like that idea, let me know. Congrats on yours stats! :D
