He should act more like a role model because it's a position of such importance but neverthelesss it shouldn't effect his football career. It's got nothing to do with it.
Terry Captaincy

The question I think is how much should a professional's private life affect his professional career when they are not directly related to one another. In Terry's case he is seen as a role model for thousands of younger footballers and kids just starting out so whatever he does that gets publicized will be seen by his young idols and they will more often than not think his way is the right way which in this case it wasn't and was an error of judgement on his part.
Footballers needs to realise that they are in the spotlight and have people and reporters keeping a beady eye on their every move and wrong moves will get put in the papers to shift sales (whether this is right or wrong is another one to ponder). They are young lads with a lot of fame and money and I imagine their judgement gets clouded all to often, they just need to think a bit more before they indulge in such off-field misdmeanours...

about his running a security guard down?
It seems amazing to me that the papers were full of his sexual exploits, yet something that left a man with a broken leg didn't make a ripple.
I think that just about sums

I think that just about sums up the British media!

I didn't hear about that

I didn't hear about that Corris! I suppose it's not 'juicy' enough, people would rather read about sex scandelss (well, the tabloid readers anyhow)
I am in two minds over it. He is a role model and therefore above reproach but then again, it boils down to just being a job and not many people get sacked for playing away from home.
Undecided!
