.Coaches,
I have two high school daughters that run the 200m/400m.
I have read from numerous sources that you should train for your specific events. The coaches currently have the whole team running 5 to 6 miles, a couple days of week as part of their workout. Other days they do multiple 400's (6-10) with the goal of trying to make them all the same (approx 75s-90s). One day a week, they may run a workout progression of 200s/100s/400s. None of the workouts are designed to be performed at or near top speed. The end of last season, my oldest ran the 400 in 60, and the 200m in 27.1. She really wants to improve on her time. They are currently in the middle of indoor season. Any thoughts?
