Hi everyone. Im doing a project, which has to be handed in within a month based on why alot of children opt out of taking part in P.E. at school. When i was younger hardley anyone missed it but over the years more and more seen to be dropping out. I know that now adays there is alot more opportunities in local areas for sport , i know technology has a big part to play in it but there are lots more reasons.I have found this a severe problem in the school i have started to teach in. can anyone recommend any good sites or books that i could use in my literature review????

Children just try to find reasons to avoid sports. I hate to see it too, not wanting to do sth is not the reason for not doing it.
my peers avoidedP.E. lessons, espeically swimming, usually they fake up reasons such as periods and stuff like that. Myabe they think it's a tough thing to do, but com'n how many meters can you run for a P.E. lesson
The last time I missed a swimming session was because of my left hand. I remmeber that my teachers were very encouraging of us aprticipating in sports, it keeps you healthy fit and attractive, thankyou

Once children reach the ages of 11-12, they start to differentiate between luck and skill. Whereas when they were 7 and they knocked the ball into goal, they thought it was the best goal ever, now if that happens they may realise it was a lucky tap. Older children realising this doubt their abilties, and hence are reluctant to take part in sport in the fear of social annihilation.
