I just started to play cricket this summer and have a problem with batting.
Yesterday there was a mini practise game and one of the bowlers managed to hit the wicket twice....
I know the basic stance, e.g. legs bent, backlift etc. I should hold before the ball had been bowled but not after it hits the ground.
I was also told that I tended to swing the bat instead of trying to stop it.
and because of the way i swing it, it loses its position and gave the ball the chance to get between my legs to hit the stumps.
the balls bowled to me were usually straight....at medium speed. I aksed some more experienced ppl afterwards and al they told me was to watch how the ball lands instead of how the bowlers bowl.
What do you think?

k im a bowler and what gets right up my nose is when batters just keep playing defencive so i suggest to keep blocking balls away untill u get a ball that is wide of the stumps and hit hard to the floor (go for 4s, its alot more effective). Also a tip to put off fielders is to bend low and put alot of spin in the ball when you hit it. slice under the ball, just make sure you put alot of power in as well or the ball is just going to go one of the feilders hands.

CRICKET: BATTING

Batting is one of the most exciting parts of cricket for cricket fans.
A good batsman is one who can protect his wicket but at the same
time score runs. The bigger the shot selection together with fast
reflexes & free-flowing shots, one can become an excellent batsman.
Shots in batting range from the square cut, hook, off-drive,
pull to the sweep and the leg-glance.
batting with hanging ball

its very simple but very useful for evry batsman.
its also help to improve your foot work.
hang the ball in any coridoor foue inches above the floor.
ball in the soucks tied with the rope.
tied the rope 8feet above the ground and hang it.
now just stand 5feet away from the ball and use ur front foot and hit the ball with bat slowlly now ball come to tou again and again and you just play the ball that prictice help to improve your bat path and also bat swing.
try this and let me know.
cricket basic help

hi, i play village cricket for a team in west yorkshire and i either get 30 or 0.
i understand the basic principles and try to watch the bowler arm / ball all the way but for some reeason i always either wander in front and get lbw or play across the line and get bowled.
what i was wanting was some advice on when the ball is going full or yorker and how to make sure it doesnt go under my bat!
i now take midle and leg guard so lbw is harder to get out with and i have a bit of a mental block when ball goes full at my feet.
can anyone give me advice on what to look for as bowl is bowled and some advice on decision making for each delivery?
i am going to play straight on all deliveries now unless wide or short, then ill go for it.
advice please?
thanbks
russ

hi there
im curious as to know where exactly dp professional batsman focus when batting, some look down at the bowlers hand whereas others look higher up presumably at some particular point on the sight screen, when batting without a sight screen, where is it best to focus to get the best look at the ball?
